- Description: A 2019 survey of teachers in Ol Pejeta community schools found that nearly all use ICT, and most use ARES in their lessons.

In June 2019 we surveyed teachers in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy community schools to measure how ICT and ARES were being used, and where the gaps were. Teachers from 14 of the 19 schools took part, 95 respondents in all, across languages, mathematics, sciences, humanities and technical subjects.

## What we found

- **97.9%** of teachers use ICT resources in their work, most often for lessons, exam analysis and professional records.
- **67%** integrate ICT into teaching occasionally to very frequently.
- **59%** use the ARES server in lesson delivery. The favourites are Khan Academy, PhET simulations, TED Talks, Wikipedia, great books and local content.
- More than half can download pictures, videos and documents from ARES on their own. The rest asked for more training.

## What we did next

The survey showed that ARES is valued, and that training is the key to getting the most from it. It shaped the annual teacher training run with Ol Pejeta and our partners, and the [2021 follow-up assessment](https://ares.sheql.org/2021-ares-impact-assessment/).
