Announcing the ARES Expansion Project: 100 systems in three years

Most schools in rural Kenya still lack internet, computers and digital literacy training. ARES has been closing that gap for more than eight years, and now we want to move much faster.

The plan

We are seeking US$1 million over three years to place 100 ARES systems: 70 in new schools, and 30 to expand existing installations.

  • Every school receives extensive hands-on training and ongoing support from the partners.
  • Outcomes will be measured against pre-established baselines using our current metrics.
  • Notebooks and servers will be assembled and distributed by Computers for Schools Kenya, entirely within Kenya.
  • 100% of funds raised go to project deliverables, not staff travel or salaries.

The partners

  • Afretech Aid Society, originator and developer of ARES
  • Computers for Schools Kenya (CFSK)
  • Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Laikipia County
  • Tsavo Conservancy, southeast Kenya
  • Lewa Conservancy, under discussion

Until now, ARES has been funded by individuals, Rotary International and the Government of Canada. Adopt a school or contact us about sponsorship.
